Ganoderic acid A (GA), one of the triterpenoids abundant in Ganoderma lucidum, has been proven to have a variety of health benefits. In this study, we investigated the effect and mechanism of improving hyperlipidemia in mice fed a high-fat diet. As a result, GA intake suppressed the abnormal increase in body weight and adipose tissue, and improved hyperlipidemia. Furthermore, fatty liver was significantly reduced.
 The intake of GA increased the amount of short-chain fatty acids in the intestines and increased the excretion of bile acids (BA) from feces. Examination of the intestinal microflora showed that daily intake of GA caused changes in the intestinal microflora of mice fed a high-fat diet. Correlation analysis also revealed a relationship between the intestinal microbiota and lipid metabolism indices.
  Analysis of 111 metabolic parameters in the liver showed clear changes with high doses of GA (75 mg per kg body weight per day). In more detailed analysis, metabolic pathway enrichment analysis in the liver showed that GA intake regulated primary bile acid biosynthesis, fatty acid biosynthesis, amino and nucleotide sugar metabolism, and inositol phosphate metabolism.

 These findings provide new evidence that Ganoderma lucidum GA may reduce weight gain, alleviate lipid metabolism disorders, and positively improve gut microflora imbalance.
